Langkawi SkyCab & Skybridge

Langkawi Cable Car and Skybridge

SkyCab‌ & SkyBridge

If you are also visiting Langkawi Island, do yourself a favor an take a trip to this place… you will not regret it. I did it twice, and will do it for sure a third time. The view and the experience is absolutely amazing and worth it.

This cable car ride takes you from the Base Station via the Middle Station to the Top Station up 708m above sea level to Langkawi’s second highest peak of Mt. Machinchang‌ and the longest free span and curved bridge in the world. The view of the surrounding islands is simply breathtaking. Enjoy great views of the hillside flora, waterfalls and occasional glimpses of the wildlife and birds, while hovering over jungle and climbing over 550 million years old rock.

The Base Station is conveniently located in the Oriental Village at the foothill of the Machincang mountain.
It is easy accessible from the whole island by bus, car, taxi and motorbike and even in walking distance to the
Berjaya Langkawi Resort, where you can have a fantastic stay and can even save a bunch of money if you book your accommodation here .
Give it a try and check it out, now or later. You will be very surprised about the savings you can have 😉 At least, you can for sure pay the cable car ride with the savings or have even more fun with more on-site activities and trips on Langkawi Island.

The Oriental Village itself is nearby Pantai Kok and Burau Bay, about a 20 minutes ride from the airport to the west of the island.

From here, visitors will be taken up to the cool Machincang mountain via the cable car system. The ride will be an exhilarating experience for everyone to enjoy.

An intermediate cable car station on the eastern ridges provides the much desired access to the eastern cliffs with its 3 vertical chimneys and the beautiful 360-degree views. The journey from the Base Station to Middle Station will cover 1,700 meters in distance and upon reaching the Middle Station at an elevation of 650m above sea level, visitors will be able to alight and walk up to the viewing platforms. Visitors will enjoy panoramic view of the main island as well as the many surrounding islands. Visitors also be able to observe at a close range the unique flora on the ridges and the forested valley between the Middle Station and the Top Station.

@ Langkawi Island / Malaysia

You can continue the ride with the SkyCab to the Top Station, or if you want you can use a trek between the Middle Station and the Top Station. This allows visitors to explore the valley between the two stations. Visitors will experience first hand the unique change in the flora of lowland to the top as well as many species of flora endemic only to the Mt. Machinchang forest reserves.

When you reach the Top Station, a short walk up the stairs at an elevation of 708m above sea level will take you to the two viewing platforms at the top of Machincang mountain. You will be amazed at the unfolding dramatic views from the platforms, the most unique and exciting features of Machincang, are dominating rock tower peaks providing spectacular 360 degrees panoramic views of the Langkawi islands and Southern Thailand as well as dramatic views of the deep chasms, overhangs cliff walls and isolated pinnacles. Such nature monuments are seldom seen anywhere else in this combination except in Langkawi.

Enjoy this trip and let me know how it was 😉

Manatees in Florida

Sweeties under water…

If you like to be in water, if you like animals and if you like to have a once in a lifetime experience, then you should swim with Manatees.

In Florida, it is possible to do this trips around Crystal River, where this sweeties have their “home base”, escpecially when the water of the ocean becomes colder. The rivers and warm water springs around Crystal River and Homosassa are still warm and provide the Manatees a habitation for relaxing. In this warm shallow waters of estuaries, rivers, coastal areas and bays, you will find for sure your personal experience with Manatees.

While Crystal River has about 40-50 resident manatees throughout the year, the numbers vary significantly in different months. There are fewer manatees in the summer than other months. The best months to swim with manatees in that area are between November and April when a large number of manatees (400-500) are crowded around the mentioned warm water springs and migrate to Crystal River. There are more manatees there in December, January and February than in any other time, but you will still have a top notch experience in the months of March and April. Water is also very clear during these months, making it much easier to locate and swim with the manatees. For the best experiences, midweek trips (Tuesday through Thursday) and early in the morning tours (6:30 to 8:30 a.m.) are ideal as the springs are less crowded. Manatees are also very active and playful in the morning.

Make sure to take all this informations into account when planning your trip to swim with Manatees.

It is only a short ride from the Tampa Bay Area with a lot of affordable accomodiations. Even from Orlando it is worth for a trip to Crystal River.

Do Manatees fart?

Of course they do 😀

They even use their farts to swim. If you get a chance to watch manatees for a few minutes, you’ll notice how effortlessly they rise and sink in water. You’ll also notice an incessant bubbling up on their hindquarters as they sink into the water. So why are they doing this?
Here is the explanation: “Manatees do not have swim bladders to help regulate their buoyancy and stay horizontal in the water column. Several things help, including the dense ribs located towards the front of the body and no hind limbs. Another method used with great results is actually flatulence. Manatees release or store gasses in their system to drop or rise at will.”

So… yep. Manatees really use their farts to swim. An adult manatee will eat between 100 and 150 pounds of vegetation each day which means a lot of methane builds up inside. If they want to float to the top they hold it in and if they want to sink they let it rip.

I don’t suggest you try this method of swimming at home and for sure not in public swimming pools. But if you like to do some hidden experiments, then do it on your own risk 😉

Here is an inspiration for you of an epic Manatee fart 😀

Welcome to my blog The future of traveling
The future of traveling

Follow me to the future of traveling…

Don´t waste your precious time and money by comparing hotel prices, chasing for coupons to get a discount or trying to grab a so called “super-mega-travel-deal”.
From now, it is no more necessary. You can and you will save more than you ever expect. It´s time to beat the big monopolists like booking.c.., expedia, airbnb etc. and their commissions. Because as a middleman, they get your money for no really additional value. But now you can book your dream hotel, your home or your flights without paying unnecessary commisions to middleman.

Blockchain-Technology makes traveling affordable again !

As a passionate traveler, I will show you here more and more examples of how you can save your hard earned money by using this websites while traveling, so that you can spend more for fun. Mainly I will give you some recommendations for accomodations, but sometimes also for flights and attractions. Of course you can book your stays and flights as you already did elsewhere by just using your credit card. Or you can book and pay directly in LOC, so that you can even save the credit card fees.
The big difference is, that you have to pay less at all. Because with blockchain-powered booking options, you only pay what you really get 😀
But no worry, it is not necessary that you are familiar with all that blockchain stuff. As already mentioned, you can book like elsewhere by using your credit card (and soon more paying options like paypal). All that tech stuff will happen in the background that you not even will notice it.

The only things that you will notice for sure, are the awsome and amazing savings you can made. So come on and follow me to the future of traveling 😉

I will share not only my experiences with you of different travel destinations, I will also share on my blog my previous and current trips and activities with some pics and informations, so that you can try it out by yourself and have some extra fun while traveling.

Check out the latest news or hotel tips and informations of different travel related stories or send me your recommendations and your savings you made by using LockTrip and this website.
